On June 9, a shepherd was detained by Russian soldiers near the border with South Ossetia, on the territory controlled by the Georgian side. This was reported by an official of the Adzvi village administration of the Gori District.

According to the official, Vakhtang Mchedlishvili, a 62-year-old shepherd, was kidnapped when he together with his colleague was grazing livestock.

"Russians arrived in an UAZ car. People say there were five of them. And they detained Vakhtang Mchedlishvili. People use the territory to graze livestock almost every day," stated David Tatiashvili, an official of the village administration, as quoted by the "Georgia Online".
