Dagestani rights defender from detained in Stavropol Territory

Svetlana Isaeva, a member of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC), was detained at the federal checkpoint "Zaterechny" when she was returning from Rostov-on-Don to Dagestan on a scheduled bus. At present, she is released.

According to Svetlana Isaeva, at the "Zaterechny" checkpoint in the Stavropol Territory, she was approached by an officer. He told the woman that she was wanted and asked her to follow him for clarification of the circumstances.

"He has explained to me that the computer database provides them with the information that in 2013, the CCE (Centre for Combating Extremism) of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) put me on the wanted list," Svetlana Isaeva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The officer phoned the CCE and invited its staff members to come to clarify the information about the wanted woman; however, they refused to come and said that they knew nothing of the fact.

"Then, a FSB agent was invited. He also said that he had no questions to me. After that, the officer apologized to me and said that I would be able to continue my trip," explained Svetlana Isaeva.

According to her, in the early morning, she was put on a bus bound for Dagestan.
