More than 130 residents of Kabardino-Balkaria fight in Syria, MIA reports

At present, more than 130 residents of Kabardino-Balkaria, including 28 women, are in Syria in the ranks of the terrorist organizations. This was reported by Kazbek Tatuev, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kabardino-Balkaria. According to him, since the beginning of the conflict, twenty natives of Kabardino-Balkaria were killed in Syria. Their bodies will be identified after the end of the war.

On April 5, Kazbek Tatuev, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kabardino-Balkaria, and Zalim Kashirokov, Minister for Prevention of Extremism and Implementation of Youth Policy of Kabardino-Balkaria, held a briefing in Nalchik, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to Kazbek Tatuev, in 2010, the republic "registered 143 terror actions, in 2014 only 10, and in 2015 2." However, he has noted that in the current year, "the state of the operating environment will still be affected by activities of the armed underground."

In 2015, in Kabardino-Balkaria, the number of armed incidents decreased by 29% as compared with the year of 2014. This is proven by the statistics of the "Caucasian Knot" based on own materials and open sources.

Criminal cases are instituted against 60 citizens fighting in Syria, and they are put on the federal wanted list. Besides, "11 people were prevented from leaving for Syria."

Kazbek Tatuev does not rule out that natives of the republic, who will try to return to their homeland, "will be aimed at committing terror acts."
