Tenants of Volgograd block of flats: there is no document on building new house

In Volgograd, officials have guaranteed, at a meeting with tenants of the destroyed apartment block, to build a new house in Kosmonavtov Street, but there is no official decision on that so far, said Larisa Borodaeva, the leader of tenants-activists, adding that the issue of free legal aid to tenants ids still pending.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the explosion in the apartment block No. 47 in Kosmonavtov Street occurred on December 20, 2015; five people perished as a result. On February 10, Governor Andrei Bocharov said that a new block will be built instead and in the place of destroyed house within a year.

On February 10, tenants had a meeting Vice-Governor Valentina Grechina, Svetlana Kuznetsova, the chair of the regional construction committee, city manager of Volgograd Alexander Chunakov and his deputy.

"Guarantees of building the house have been given, but the decision has not yet been signed, because, according to officials, they are clarifying legal details," said Borodaeva.

She added that legal aid is topical for tenants; therefore, on January 12 they wrote an appeal to the Regional Bar Association asking for the provision of free legal services.

The free aid of independent lawyers assumes consultations only, the lawyer Gennady Melnikov has explained.
