Police release eight Nardaran residents

Eight residents of the settlement of Nardaran, detained on December 1, 2015, have been released by the police after serving 30 days of arrest, said Natiq Kerimov, the elder of the settlement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the situation in Nardaran remained tense since November 26, when 14 people were detained during a special operation, including Talekh Bagirzade, the leader of the movement "Muslim Unity". The operation triggered disorders, resulting in murders of seven persons. Thereafter, detentions and searches continued. According to local residents' data as of December 28, since December 1, about 70 people were detained; about 10 of them were later released.

Eight local residents were released on January 1 after serving their 30 days of administrative arrest, the "contact.az" reports, referring to the above Natiq Kerimov.

"Currently, the settlement is supplied with electricity, gas and water. There were no arrests during the last two days," he added.

According to local residents, police forces are still deployed in Nardaran; and checkpoints are still there, the "haqqin.az" reports.
