Political analysts state Ivanishvili's control over situation in Georgia

Former Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili continues influencing the political processes in the country, Georgian political scientist believe. At the same time, the popularity of his party has fallen sharply.

Despite the current situation in Georgia, the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party will not be able to win in the 2016 parliamentary elections, said Giya Khukhashvili, an expert of the "Research Institute of Georgia's Development".

"Today, voters don't identify themselves with any political party. The legitimacy of the government is weak, while the UNM has no chance to win the elections," the expert told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In the opinion of Gulbaat Rtskhiladze, a candidate of political sciences and the head of the "Eurasian Institute", the ex-Premier Bidzina Ivanishvili continues influencing the political processes in Georgia. "He's still in politics and pretty nicely in control over the situation, and quietly pursues his line," the analyst told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 23 Irakli Kobakhidze, the executive secretary of the "Georgian Dream" Party, said that he was waiting for Ivanishvili's imminent return to politics. The political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" are also sure that there are all grounds for his return.
