Power agents report killing of four IS militants in Chechnya

Three militants were killed in a special operation held in the Staropromyslovskiy District of Grozny; one more was shot dead in a shootout with patrol policemen, said representatives of power structures. Three policemen were wounded.

According to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), two policemen, wounded in the special operation in Grozny, are in grave condition.

According to a law enforcement source, today in Grozny Shamil Chergizov was killed, who "fought in Syria on the side of the Islamic State (IS)" (recognized as terrorist organization in Russia, USA, Turkey and other countries, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"). Power agents wanted to stop Chergizov’s car for checking documents, but "he tried to escape and opened fire," the “LifeNews” reports with reference to a law enforcement source.

The operation in Grozny was conducted by agents of the SOBR (an analogue of SWAT) "Terek" of the MIA of the Chechen Republic together with the local Department of the FSB, said the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov. According to his story, the militants "had come to Chechnya from Syria, where they were trained at the IS camps." They participated in commission of terror acts in Syria, Kadyrov wrote in his page on the Instagram.
