Native of KBR wins gold at World Athletics Championships

A Russian Maria Kuchina, a native of the city of Prokhladny, has won the gold medal in high jump at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

The 22-year-old Kuchina conquered the height of 2.01 meters from the first attempt. The silver medal went to the Croatian Blanka Vlasic, who showed the same result and lost to Kuchina because of the fact that she used two attempts to conquer 1.92 m.

The bronze medal was won by another Russian – Anna Chicherova, who coped with the height of 2.01 m by the second attempt, the "R-Sport" Agency reports.

The portal "Sportbox.ru" adds that Kuchina was preparing for the summer season at home, in her native Prokhladny.
