Law enforcers search for militants near Chechen-Ingush border

Law enforcers do not rule out that a grouping of suspected militants, who on August 16 initiated a shootout with the Ingush law enforcers near the Chechen border, could go into the direction of the Chechen village of Bamut.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 16, a grouping of 12 persons was seen not far from the village of Dattykh of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia. They were moving in the direction of the Chechen village of Bamut. According to the law enforcers, the search for suspected militants is being carried out in the forested mountainous terrain at the junction of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia and the Sunzha and Achkhoi-Martan Districts of Chechnya.

"It is very convenient area in terms of concealed deployment and movement. In case of danger, militants can quickly leave the area of the administrative border in the direction of Ingushetia or mountain areas of Chechnya," an officer of a unit of the special forces of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported.

The MIA's officer has noted that in recent time, militants arranged small bases and camps in that area. According to the law enforcer, the grouping of militants revealed in the Sunzha District of Ingushetia could go into the direction of the village of Bamut of the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya.

Let us remind you that on August 2, near the administrative border between Chechnya and Ingushetia, during the counterterrorist operation (CTO), 8 militants from the grouping led by Adam Tagilov were killed. All of them were residents of Chechnya, and, according to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), they were members of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" and belonged to the so-called "Achkhoi-Martan Sector".
