Sochi activists complain about Mayor's decision to make temporary dumps

In Sochi, members of the movement "Law and Order" have asked the prosecutor of the region to take steps to cancel the decision of the Mayor on making temporary dumps of the waste generated after the flooding.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 25 Sochi was affected by heavy rains, which flooded a part of the city. On June 28, it became known about an unsanctioned garbage dump in the village of Chereshnya, Adler District. Villagers state a threat of epidemics because of the dump, arranged in the centre of the village. Similar complaints arrived from the villagers of Baranovka and Ordynka in the Lazarevskoe District.

On August 13, Roman Shikarev, the leader of the "Law and Order", sent, on behalf of his supporters, a complaint to the Public Prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory against the resolution of Sochi Mayor No. 2212 of July 31, 2015 "On temporary storage of wastes generated as a result of the disaster caused by the flooding of the territory after heavy rains in Sochi in June 2015".

"How, on the basis of what norms of law and under whose order hundreds of trucks loaded with wastes of various morphological origin and various classes of danger, took out these wastes into the territories not designed for this purpose and not reserved for the purpose in the prescribed order?" ask the authors of the complaint, a copy of which is at the disposal of "Caucasian Knot".

Activists ask the prosecutor to take measures to repeal this resolution, liquidate the dumps immediately, and bring respective officials accountable.
