Moscow businessman registered as candidate for Chechen presidency
The third candidate for the post of Chechen president has been registered by the Chechen Central Election Commission. He is Malik Saidullayev, a Moscow businessman. Experienced lawyers will help him during his election campaign, a source at the election commission reported.
The other registered presidential candidates are Mariat Garchkhanova (b. 1949), a native of Urus-Martan, and Vakha Visayev (b. 1963), an adviser to the Chechen president and a native of Nozhay-Yurt.
The Chechen presidential election is scheduled for August 29. The decision to hold it was made after the death of Chechen president Akhmat Kadyrov in the May 9 terrorist act in Grozny.
