Man killed in Stavropol Territory identified as missing Makhmutov

The man, killed today in a shootout in the vicinity of the village of Verkhnestepnoe, has been identified by his relatives as Tamirlan Makhmutov, the missing villager from Kayasul, Neftekumsk District of the Stavropol Territory.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported with reference to a law enforcement source that today, near the village of Verkhnestepnoe, Stepnovsky District of the Stavropol Territory, an unidentified man opened fire at policemen from his car and was killed by return fire.

"His body has been already given out to relatives for burial," one of Makhmutov's relatives told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The disappearance of Tamirlan Makhmutov was reported by his relatives, who said that their last communication with him was on January 17. They feared that he could be kidnapped by law enforcers.

The Stepnovsky ROVD (District Interior Division) refused to comment on the information, voiced out by Makhmutov's relatives.
