Three persons lost in Mi-24 helicopter shot down by Azeri militaries

Three persons perished today in the crash of the Mi-24 helicopter shot down today by the Azerbaijani military forces. Such incidents may expand the scale of the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis, said Lamberto Zannier, the OSCE Secretary General.

The press service of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan insists that the Armenian military helicopter was shot down, when it attacked the Azerbaijani positions. On the contrary, the MoD of Nagorno-Karabakh reports that the helicopter was shot down during a training flight.

The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has expressed its concerns about the events surrounding the helicopter crash in Karabakh. "We are very concerned about the events inside and outside of Nagorno-Karabakh; such incidents may lead to a broader crisis in the context of the situation that is increasingly unstable," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Lamberto Zannier as saying.
