Vremenny residents complain of foodstuffs shortage because of settlement blockage

Today, residents of the settlement of Vremenny, Untsukul District of Dagestan, where a large-scale special operation is underway, said that power agents forbid them to leave houses; and the settlement was a lack of food.

"OMON (riot police) agents have evicted us from our houses and moved in themselves. I was sent to live with my neighbour. She has almost run out of foodstuffs: enough for today, tomorrow and that's all. They live in our houses, use our property, break, spoil, and take away whatever they like. How long will it continue!" a woman said on condition of anonymity.

According to her story, power agents prohibit local residents to leave their houses. The shops, school and kindergarten are closed.

"In some houses, up to 10-15 OMON agents live. Nobody cares about what happens here, but it's worse than in Donbas, which is day and night on TV. We understand that they have to capture bandits, but why should they intimidate ordinary people?" the woman from Vremenny has asked.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, Vremenny was blocked by law enforcers and militaries. On September 19, they began inspecting household by household and check everybody living there; and at night on September 23, gunfire was heard for about three hours. As reported on September 24, by a woman from Vremenny, almost all the men were taken to the neighbouring village of Gimry under the pretext of identification; the movement in the settlement was restricted; and many locals' houses were searched. On September 28, according to locals, law enforcers offered residents of Vremenny to leave their settlement, however the residents refused to do it, fearing for their property. On October 2, as a result of shootout three militants were killed and one OMON (riot police) fighter was wounded.
