In Georgia, refugees plan to march from Poti to Tbilisi in protest

Refugees living in Poti have announced their intention to start a pedestrian march to Tbilisi to protest against the authorities' refusal to provide them with apartments in new buildings.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 10, in Poti, the refugees held a protest action in front of the branch office of the "Georgian Dream" Party. The refugees stated that the authorities "had once again cheated" them and did not provide the promised apartments in a new residential complex. The protestors have promised that in case if the authorities refuse to fulfil their demands they will hold a new protest action.

"We are going from Poti to Tbilisi, to the office of the Prime Minister. And we do not know when we come to Tbilisi. During our way, other people will likely join us, and many refugees want to join the protest action," the "Georgia Online" quotes one of the activists as saying at the protest action held on September 29.

The protest action involves about 10 refugee families. They demand to provide them with apartments in newly constructed buildings in Poti. According to the protestors, the apartments were allocated unfairly, and thus they were left homeless, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
