KBR residents celebrate Adygs' Day for the first time

Today, residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) celebrate the Adygs' Day for the first time. On the occasion, schools and other institutions where Saturday is a working day have a day-off.

The Decree on the establishment of the Adygs' Day was signed on August 11, 2014, by Yuri Kokov, the Acting Head of the KBR. The Decree notes that the Adygs' Day was established "in response to numerous appeals of KBR citizens."

The ethnic community of "Adygs" unites Circassians, Adygs, Kabardians and Shapsugs, who basically live in the Russian regions of Adygea, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and Krasnodar Territory.

In connection with the holiday, the KBR has hosted celebrations and concerts.
