In Azerbaijan, Leyla Yunus' advocate stats that she is pressed by two cellmates

The rights defender Leyla Yunus is kept in Baku SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 1 in intolerable conditions, said her advocate Alaif Gasanov. According to his story, Yunus is under moral and psychological pressure from her two cellmates.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Leyla Yunus was detained on July 30 in Baku and charged, together with her husband Arif Yunus, under several articles, including treason. Her advocate informed that the human rights defender complained about ill-treatment by her cellmate and a wardress of the SIZO.

"They placed another inmate into Leyla's cell. Together with Nurida Guseinova (earlier the advocate reported that she attacked Leyla Yunus, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") they both smoke and exacerbate Leyla's sufferings from lack of fresh air. They endlessly praise the current government of Azerbaijan, as if engaged in Leila's 'political education'," Alaif Gasanov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He told about the situation with Leyla Yunus on his page in the Facebook.

Novella Djafaroglu, a member of the Monitoring Group of Human Rights Organizations of Azerbaijan (MGHROA) and the head of the Dilyara Alieva Society for Women's Rights, condemned the pressure on Leyla Yunus.

"We are alarmed by the information about the pressure on Leyla Yunus in the SIZO. This is simply outrageous. It is inadmissible to keep her in one cell with women-recidivists," Novella Djafaroglu told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
