High level of xenophobia registered in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories
The All-Russian Conference "Ways for Overcoming Xenophobia, Racial Discrimination, and Anti-Semitism in the Multination Russian Federation" was held at the training center Moskovsky on March 28-30, with the assistance of the European Union within the framework of a 3-year project. The project is carried out by the Moscow Bureau on Human Rights, the Moscow Helsinki Group, and the Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union (UCSJ).
Participants adopted the resolution "On the Problem of Xenophobia and Violence Owing to Racial and Religious Intolerance in Russia." They pointed to the alarmingly high level of xenophobia and expansion of aggressive racism, especially "Caucasus phobia", in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Tula, Orel and Smolensk Regions, and other territories.
