Children of refugees from Chechnya and Ingushetia to spend three months with American families
Children from families of refugees from Ingushetia and the Chechen Republic, affected by ethnic conflicts, will spend three months with American families. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Alikhan Akhilgov, the leader of the non-governmental organization "Foundation for assistance to earlier deported peoples", who organized the trip.
On July 18, in total, the US consulate issued five visas for children from families of refugees from Ingushetia and the ChechenRepublic. On July 21, the children together with an accompanying person flew to America, where they were met by staff members of the non-governmental organization "International Institute of Life" and members of those families in which they would live.
The organization "Foundation for assistance to earlier deported peoples" was founded in November 1992 after the events of the Ossetian-Ingush conflict in October-November 1992. The founders of the Foundation determined the main problem to be addressed as taking care of children who fell victim to ethnic conflicts and wars.
Alikhan Akhilgov states that in Ingushetia and Chechnya, "almost no one helps to organize trips for children to spend holidays in other regions." "Receiving parties bear all the expenses of children's vacations. And in this case, all the expenses were covered by the American citizens."
