Armenia: mother of killed soldier challenges acquittal of his colleagues
Goar Melkonyan, the mother of soldier Roman Egiazaryan who was killed in 2003, appealed to the court of appeal to challenge the decision of the court of general jurisdiction, in accordance with that the soldiers suspected in the murder of her son were acquitted.
On December 18, 2012, the court in Armenia pronounced the verdict of not guilty to three former soldiers in the case of the murder of Roman Egiazaryan and Ovsep Mkrtumyan, two soldiers in the military unit of Matagis of Nagorno-Karabakh.
During the period of 2003-2006, defendants Razmik Sargsyan, Musa Seropyan and Araik Zalyan were kept in custody on charges of the brutal murder committed by a group of persons. And those three soldiers were involved in the murder of her son. This was declared by Goar Melkonyan at the today's press conference.
"We demand justice, and we demand to sentence the guilty persons, that is, those defendant who have been acquitted," Goar Melkonyan has stated.
At present, the "Caucasian Knot" does not have any comments of Razmik Sargsyan, Musa Seropyan and Araik Zalyan on the statements made by Goar Melkonyan.
