Blind girl from Rostov-on-Don calls on Vladimir Putin to adopt sick children
Natasha Pisarenko, a blind girl studying on 10th form in a school of Rostov-on-Don, wrote an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, drawing his attention to the lack of opportunity to cure seriously ill children in Russia.
In her blog in the "Live Journal", Natasha Pisarenko posted her appeal to Vladimir Putin in connection with the adoption of the "Law of Dima Yakovlev".
"In the orphan homes, there are children with disabilities, who live only several years because of their severe congenital diseases, and, in the best case, they die at the age of twenty years old. They die, because there is no modern medicine in Russia. Children with disabilities are just confined to their beds in orphan homes and wait," Natasha Pisarenko writes. She continues: "Children with severe congenital diseases will not be adopted by our families, since those children need modern medicine, and Russia has no modern medicine."
Natasha Pisarenko also asked Vladimir Putin to "surprise" the country once again and to adopt five-ten children with congenital diseases to show an example to other Russian citizens.
The appeal caused a huge resonance in the blogosphere. "Today, I came home from school and found 610 SMS in my mobile phone. They were e-mail notifications about 610 comments in my 'LJ'. Then, every hour, the 'Ekho Moskvy' Radio Station tells the audience about my article. I cannot answer all people. However, I want to say once again that people who live in America are not cannibals," Natasha wrote on January 12.
