Activist of "Free Youth" arrested in Azerbaijan
On May 17, Ilkin Rustamzade, an activist of the civil movement "Free Youth, was arrested in Azerbaijan by the decision of the Nasimi District Court for two months. Rustamzade is suspected of organizing a dance flash mob.
Nemat Kerimli, Rustamzade's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that his client was charged with organization in February this year of the flash mob Harlem Shake in Baku Boulevard and posting a respective video on the YouTube.
"Investigators believe that the young people, when doing a rhythmic dance, behaved indecently, violated ethical standards in a public place and disturbed the public order. But this is an absurd accusation. Firstly, Rustamzade had nothing to do with the organization of the action. Secondly, even if he was involved in the action, there's nothing criminal in it. Young people did not break the law. This flash mob is popular all over the world," said the lawyer.
According to his story, the young man is convinced that he is being persecuted for political reasons for his critical statements against authorities in social networks and participation in protests.
