Deputies of the Georgian Parliament suggest toughening liability for xenophobia-related crimes
Georgian authorities will toughen liability for crimes out of religious, race, lingual, national or ethnic intolerance. The respective amendments to the Criminal Code are planned. Deputies from the ruling party Kakhaber Anjaparidze and Zviyad Kukava became their originators and authors.
According to the bill, religious, race, lingual, national or ethnic motives for all sorts of crimes of this kind will be regarded as aggravating circumstances.
Public statements derogating from any ethnic or religious group are suggested to be severely punished, “Novosti-Georgia” reports.
The bill has already been initiated in the Parliament but its consideration has not yet started, “Georgia Online” reports.
