Elena Isinbaeva on top of list of most successful Russian women-athletes

Elena Isinbaeva, the Olympic Champion in the pole vault, the native of the city of Volgograd, heads the top 20 in the ranking of the most successful operating Russian women-athletes, compiled by the Russian media.

The survey for ranking was held among the experts by the sports news agency "R-Sport", the RIA "Novosti", the Radio Station "Avtoradio", and the newspaper "Moskovsky Komsomolets".

In total, more than 50 names were mentioned, out of which, by the sum of votes, 30 names were selected for the experts' voting. The voting took place on condition of anonymity.

The experts were represented by famous athletes, including members of the Russian national teams in various sports, famous coaches and officials.

Together with Elena Isinbaeva, the biathlete Olga Zaitseva and the tennis player Maria Sharapova, the winner of three Grand Slam tournaments, also head the top 20 in the ranking of women-athletes.
