Putin polled over 90 per cent of the electors’ votes in Abkhazia

74 135 residents of Abkhazia having Russian citizenship took part in the election of President of the Russian Federation. According to the information from the Russian Embassy, 67 424 or 90,94 per cent out of them voted for Vladimir Putin.

On March, 4, nine polling stations were opened in all the towns of Abkhazia, however, there were no observers in any of them with the exception of the town of Gagri where an observer from LDPR party was present.

During the period from February, 25, till February, 29, 40 thousand residents of Abkhazia who have Russian citizenship took part in early voting. They were people from remote settlements and villages of Abkhazia who for this or that reason would not be able to come to the polling station on general voting day.

Overwhelming majority of the Abkhazian citizens have Russian citizenship, too, for Abkhazian legislation allows them double citizenship with the Russian Federation.
