In Budyonnovsk, ex-policeman is accused of beating detainees

In the city of Budyonnovsk, an ex-policeman accused of abuse of power with serious consequences, will face justice.

According to investigators, on July 18, 2011, the district police inspector beat a local resident for the latter's refusal to go with him to complete a protocol on an administrative offence.

"After that, the policeman handcuffed the victim and brought him to the building of the administration of the Novozhiznensky village council, where he continued beating him and, finally, caused grave harm to the detainee's health. Meanwhile, the inspector had no legal grounds for application of physical force and special means, since the victim rendered no resistance," the website of the Investigatory Committee of the Stavropol Territory has reported today.

The ex-policeman is charged under the article of "abuse of power with grave consequences" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The criminal case has been brought to the court, the GTRK (State TV and Radio Company) "Stavropolye" reports.
