Ecologist attacked in Krasnodar Territory

On February 24, in the Krasnodar Territory, unidentified persons inflicted bodily injuries to Igor Golubenkov, a co-chair of the public organization "Save Taman" and assistant of the Deputy of the Temryuk Settlement Council. According to the victim, the attack was customized.

On February 26, the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus reported that late in the evening on February 24, when Golubenkov was closing his garage near his house in the village of Taman, two unidentified men, shouting "Stop your ecology!", kicked and punched him several times; and the public activist was hospitalized. According to Golubenkov, the attack was committed under someone's order and had to do with his public activities.

According to his story, for two days the police failed to undertake any operative actions under his application about the attack.

Today, the spokesperson for the MIA division for the Temryuk District has reported that that police had made a check on the fact of his beating. "According to experts, Golubenkov received bodily injuries that caused no harm to his health," said the source as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".

As noted in the statement of ecologists, the attack was committed on the eve of public hearings on expansion of the production capacities of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "EFKO Food Ingredients". Mr Golubenkov intended to take an active part in the event scheduled for March 1. To do so, he had requested materials from the company on assessment of the impact of the production on the environment. Earlier, Igor Golubenkov had taken active part in the actions to protect the environment of the region.
