In Sochi, ten residents hold picket "For Fair Elections"
Today, from midday till 4 p.m., in front of the Sochi administration a sanctioned picket "For Fair Elections" was held, which was attended by 10 locals.
"The concept of 'fair elections' is a broad concept. By our advent to the square we express our protest against illegal expropriation of private property of Sochi residents, deprivation of citizens of their constitutional rights to housing, and a protest against corruption and anti-national nature of the judicial and executive branches of power," said Mikhail Sokolov, one of the organizers of the picket.
However, as stated by Irina Brovkina, another organizer, the primary aim of the picket is to draw attention of Sochi residents to non-admissibility of fraudulent presidential election and the need to take an active part in them.
The picketers held placards reading "Not a single vote to Putin!", "No to giving more lies! No to stealing more!", "Sochi protests against judicial lawlessness!" and others.
There were also three blue-white tents in the square, in which members of the "Young Guard" were conducting an opinion poll. As explained by one of the activists, they tried to learn the opinion of Sochi residents, whether they would take part in the upcoming election.
After the protesters left the square, the "Young Guard" also folded down their tents.
The action was held peacefully and without incidents.
