Defrauded housing investors hold protest in Baku
Today, approximately 50 shareholders of the construction Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) "Kyamran", "Fuad" and "Gen" held a protest in front of the presidential administration of Azerbaijan. The police pushed the demonstrators away from the building.
The protesters demanded to provide them with housing or to return their money and punish the bosses of the construction companies who had deceived them. They chanted: "Give us our flats!", "Give us back our money!" and "Let swindlers be punished!"
However, the police began, as soon as the protesters approached the presidential administration, squeezing them away from the building. At the same time, several protesters were let to the administration, where they were assured that their complaints would be examined, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
One of the participants of the meeting in the presidential administration said that should the problems of defrauded housing investors had not been addressed, they would go on hunger strike and seek help at foreign embassies and organizers of the song contest "Eurovision-2012".
"People came to the presidential administration, because all the previous instances, where they had complained, failed to take any actions," said the rights defender Alekper Mamedov, who is protecting the rights of defrauded housing shareholders.
According to Mr Mamedov, during the period from 2006 developers have cheated more than 500 people.
