Employees of the enterprise “Chechenvodocanal” report wage delays

Employees of the enterprise “Chechenvodocanal” in Grozny have not received their salary for already four months. A representative of the management of the enterprise states that the persons responsible for the present situation are defaulters on housing and communal services.

“We were last paid our salary last November and even that was done after we held a meeting demanding to settle the debt. Now the same problem emerged. The people have been living without money four months and the management keeps promising to solve the problem in the nearest future”, an employee of “Chechenvodocanal” said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“Nobody can tell us how to support our families and how long we will wait for our money”, a worker from another organization said.

The representative of “Chechenvodocanal” states that arrears of wages before the workers of the organization was caused by objective reasons.

“This is connected with the fact that a lot of consumers do not pay for housing and communal services in time. Assemblability of payment for communal services in our republic makes only 65 per cent while in other regions it approximates to or exceeds 95-97 per cent. It is not only our problem but that of power and gas supply, too. The difficulties with wages to the employees of housing and communal services is directly connected with payment for these services by the population”, the representative of the enterprise said.

In January employees of community services of Grozny carried out large-scale raids to reveal the defaulters on housing and communal services. The consumers having massive debts for communal services were suggested to settle them right away, otherwise they were cut off power and gas supply.

However, many residents of Chechnya are sure that the tariffs on communal services in the republic are overrated and the prices do not correspond with the quality of services rendered to the population.
