Supervisory Chamber of Georgia demands from “Georgian Dream” to return a donation of $12 000
Supervisory Chamber of Georgia accuses billionaire Bidzina Ivanishili’s non-governmental movement “Georgian Dream” of an attempt to evade the law and demands to return a donation of 20 thousand lari equal to 12 thousand dollars. The movement is not going to fulfill this Supervisory Chamber’s requirement.
“Kartu Mshenebeli” company belonging to Bidzina Ivanishili awarded its employee a big prize part of which was transferred to “Georgian Dream’s” account as a donation”, Natia Mogeladze, Head of Service of financial monitoring of activities of political parties of Supervisory Chamber, said at a press conference on February, 20.
The sum of the prize made 40 thousand lari or 24,4 thousand dollars 20 thousand lari out of which were transferred to “Georgian Dream’s” account three days later, “Novosti-Georgia” reports.
Supervisory Chamber of Georgia suggests Ivanishili’s movement to return the company the donation which, according to the Chamber, was received for the purpose to evade the existing legal regulations.
“Georgian Dream” is not going to fulfill this requirement, Press-speaker of the movement Maya Pandzhikisze declared.
She said that according to the Civil Code and the law of Georgia “On political associations”, any citizen of the country has a right to donate money to non-governmental organization of his or her own free will, “Georgia Online” reports.
