Mirzaev's advocate challenges his client's custody extension
The defender of Rasul Mirzaev has filed a complaint against the extension of the custody of his client – the world champion in mixed martial arts and the decision to return the case to the prosecutor.
"I filed a complaint against the return of the case to the prosecutor and against the extension of Mirzaev's custody. The complaints against the statements of the Presnya Court and presentation of a new charge have not yet been submitted and are in preparation," Alexei Grebenskoy, Mirzaev's advocate told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The press service of the Moscow City Court (MCC) has confirmed that the lawyer's complaint was received today by the court office and was sent to the judge for consideration. "The date of the hearing on Grebenskoy's complaint will be known after judge has studied the complaint and the case files," said a source from the MCC press service.
The Chair of the MCC Olga Egorova believes that the law was broken in this case; however, not by the court but by the investigation. "We've returned the case to the investigator; let him bring it into line, because throwing in such a 'green' case is not good, as all the accusations are addressed to the court," the ITAR-TASS quotes Ms Egorova as saying.
