MIA: 17 policemen lost in special operation on Chechen-Dagestani border
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya, in the course of a special operation conducted on the administrative border of Chechnya and Dagestan, 17 policemen were killed and 24 others were injured.
On February 17, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov announced that in the Nozhai-Yurt District of Chechnya, multiple units of power agencies had blocked and completely defeated the detachment of Magarbi Timiraliev, killing seven militants. The Timiraliev's grouping was covered with mortar fire.
The special operation in the area of the administrative border of Chechnya and Dagestan was one of the largest in the last few months, both by its duration and the number of involved law enforcers, and by the number of casualties on both parties.
"If you compare losses on both sides, it turns out that militants lost less than law enforcers. But, nevertheless, the Chechen leader has declared the special operation a great victory over militants. A group of seven rebels was searched for several days, during which they managed to kill and injure tens of power agents. As a result, the members of the armed underground were liquidated at a distance from mortars. It's time to question the level of competence of the command and personnel of the units, not to talk about promotions," a federal law enforcer, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
