Circassian Cultural Centre opened in Tbilisi
On February 16, the Centre was opened in the Georgian capital. Its mission is to study and popularize the history and culture of Circassians and other Caucasian nations.
"The Georgian government stretches its helping hand to Circassians by launching in Tbilisi one of the major centres of Caucasian culture, so they can preserve their language, culture and identity. While in exile, it is difficult for them," the "News of Georgia" quotes Mr Davitaya as saying.
The event was attended by members of the Circassian Diaspora from the USA and Europe. The opening of the Centre was welcomed by Iyad Yogar, President of the US Circassian Cultural Institute, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
