Mother of the guy, who saved girl in Dagestan, asks for help to pay for rehabilitation of her son
The mother of Malik Akhmadov, a 19-year-old native of the village of Kurakh of the Kurakh District of Dagestan, who got disability, while saving the life of a girl of his age from drowning in the Caspian Sea, asks for help to pay for the rehabilitation of her son.
At present, Malik is 19 years old, and he is totally dependent on his mother Erzi Akhmadova. Two years ago, he was a first-year student of the Novgorod State Agricultural Institute, and he was fond of football.
On July 13, 2010, Malik, having arrived on a vacation to his native Dagestan, had a rest with his family members on the Caspian Sea coast. Erzi Akhmadova described what had happened on that day.
"There were no lifeguards on the beach. Malik saw a drowning girl and ran to her rescue. His arm had been recently broken, and Paris plaster was not removed yet. He saved the girl, and he himself got into a whirl. My son was under water for more than 7 minutes. I was shocked, and I thought that situation did not happen to us and that tragedy could not happen. From fear of what I saw, I lost consciousness; Malik was removed from the water in a state of clinical death. Since that day, we go from one hospital to another in the hope for a cure," says Erzi Akhmadova.
In the Institute of Human Brain in Saint Petersburg, Malik Akhmadov was diagnosed with posthypoxic encephalopathy (disturbance in brain caused by oxygen starvation), tetraparesis (paralysis of limbs caused by disorders of blood circulation of the central nervous system), convulsive disorder, dysphagia (swallowing disorder), dysphonia ( disorder of phonation), frontal lobe syndrome (lesion of part of the brain).
Irina Ivchenko, the head of the Institute's clinical department, stresses in her report the positive dynamics of medical treatment.
"Doctors say that his body is young and it will cope with injuries, although, medical treatment requires money," says the Malik's mother.
At present, the Akhmadov family members live in Nizhny Novgorod. "We receive help from people classmates, friends, and even strangers; someone brought money to our house, someone transferred it to our account. Young guys, who talk about the fate of my son on the Internet, render help. This is a great moral support a good word from good people. The Novgorod Regional TV shot some TV broadcasts. The Charitable Foundation to help children with serious deceases got involved in the case they opened an account and help in choosing the place for medical treatment," says the woman.
At present, the Akhmadov family is to face another trial they are to fly to Moscow to hospitalize Malik to the rehabilitation centre for disabled people "Overcoming". The Malik's medical treatment at the centre will cost 283,900 roubles.
Nilvara Abasova, the mother of Ragimat, the girl saved by Malik, says that she keeps thanking Malik's mother and prays for his health. "If he did not rescued her, my daughter would not be alive. I thank the Malik's parents for my daughter," said the woman. Ragimat, who on July 3, 2010, was 16 years old, has already graduated from school and got married.
