Rally "For Fair Elections" held in Rostov-on-Don

The city of Rostov-on-Don has hosted a rally "For Fair Elections", which brought together about a thousand people. Organizers report about two detainees.

The Pervomaisky District Court of Rostov-on-Don refused to sanction the opposition's rally. Its organizers learned at the court that the February 4 in Theatre Square, where they had planned to hold their rally, an action of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR). However, the organizers said they would still come out to Theatre Square.

In the square, where the event took place, apart from LDPR activists, there were people with flags of "Yabloko" and "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party, as well as people with posters against Putin.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent ran an online real-time broadcasting from the venue:

2:57 p.m.: About a thousand people got together in the square; all are chanting "Russia without Putin!" Communists appear.

3:36 p.m.: The frozen-up protesters are gradually dispersing. A police boss appears and promises to start arrests.

3:48 p.m.: Opposition rally is over; it passed calmly and with no detentions. Only policemen are seen in the square.
