In Sochi, official dismissed for sending schedules for receiving absentee ballots
In Sochi, Yuri Chesnokov, Chief of Division for Recreation and Tourism of the Khosta District, who signed the schedule for obtaining absentee ballots sent to the sanatorium-and-spa institutions, was dismissed for exceeding the power.
The Sochi administration conducted official investigation into the fact. Actions of Yuri Chesnokov did not cause serious consequences; however, it was decided to dismiss him from the position for exceeding his official power, the website of the Sochi administration.
Yuri Chesnokov himself admitted that those actions were his own initiative and that he received no instructions with regard to that issue from the higher authorities.
He motivates the mailing of the above letter by only "desire to help employees of his subordinate sphere to fulfil their constitutional duties in the most convenient for them form" and treats the publication of the document in the media as the deliberate attempt to discredit him, the news agency "ITAR-TASS" reports.
Let us note that on the website kartanarusheniy.ru, which created an opportunity to report on violations during the elections, an anonymous author from Sochi informed about the unlawful, according to him, issuance of absentee ballots.
