Dagestani residents report on murder of their fellow villager committed in presence of policemen

Abdula Magomedov, a resident of the village of Tsekob of the Shamil District of Dagestan, was beaten in the presence of policemen in the building of the Lenin ROVD (District Interior Division) of the city of Makhachkala and then murdered in the building of the Republic's Narcological Dispensary, where he was brought for examination after a road accident by the GIBDD (road police) officials. This was reported by countrymen of Magomedov. They managed to meet Magomedsalam Magomedov, the leader of the republic, who promised to take the investigation into the case under his control.

Murder in hospital

Residents of the village of Tsekob told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the 20-year-old Abdula Magomedov was murdered at night on January 19. According to the relatives of the young man, after a minor road accident he was brought to the Lenin ROVD of the city of Makhachkala for registration of the road accident.

"In the building of the OVD (Interior Division), Abdula Magomedov became an unwilling participant of a fight, groundlessly provoked by a citizen in a state of alcoholic intoxication. None of policemen, who were present at that time in the OVD, tried to prevent the fight, even on the contrary," witnesses say.

According to them, after fighters were separated, the GIBDD officers brought Abdula Magomedov to the Republic's Narcological Dispensary for examination. According to the witnesses, the instigator of the fight at the Lenin ROVD also arrived there and fatally stabbed Magomedov in his back with a knife.

"The present GIBDD officers made no efforts to prevent the crime and to detain the criminal," state the residents of the village of Tsekob.

With the support of Magomed Amirov, Chairman of the Committee of the Dagestani People's Assembly on legislation, lawfulness and state construction, the resident of the village of Tsekob wrote an appeal to Magomedsalam Magomedov, the leader of the republic, asking to personally consider the crime, which, according to them, was committed with the connivance of several police officers.

Republic's leader takes case under his control

On January 31, the Dagestani President met the residents of the village of Tsekob of the Shamil District.

"Magomedsalam Magomedov has expressed his indignation about criminal inaction of the GIBDD officers, with the connivance of whom the murder was committed," the press service of the Dagestani President told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The leader of Dagestan has instructed Abdurashid Magomedov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, to take all necessary steps for detailed investigation into the incident.

On the same day, Abdurashid Magomedov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, met the relatives and countrymen of murdered Abdula Magomedov.

At present, the search of the man suspected of murder is underway; the officials consider the issue about bringing to justice staff members of the Lenin ROVD of the city of Makhachkala and the GIBDD, who failed to take measure to prevent crime and to detain the criminal.
