A criminal case concerning two operative agents accused of extortion referred to court in Rostov-on-Don

Public prosecutor's office of Rostov region sanctioned the indictment on the criminal case against Seiran Mkhitaryan, ex-Deputy Chief of operational detective unit of Department of Interior Affairs in Rostov-on-Don, and Armen Yegiazaryan, ex-Chief of operational detective unit of the same Department of Interior Affairs. The policemen are accused of extortion of a bribe to a sum of 1,5 million rubles.

In particular, according to Press service of Public prosecutor's office, Mkhitaryan is accused of abuse of authority and extortion of a bribe on an especially large scale with the use of violence and Yegiazaryan is accused of abuse of authority with the use of violence.

According to the office, at the end of September Yegiazaryan upon Mkhitaryan's order planted a bag supposedly containing drugs to a twenty-nine-years-old woman. After that the policemen started extorting 1,5 million rubles from the woman's father threatening that otherwise they would initiate a criminal case for storage of drugs against her, RBC reports.

The detainee's relatives agreed to fulfill the racketeers' demands but at the same time appealed to law enforcement bodies. Then the personnel of Department of Federal Security Service detained Mkhitaryan after he received 100 thousand rubles, Rostov.ru reports.
