Kalmykia starts installing web cameras at polling stations

It is planned that equipment for video surveillance over the procedures of voting and vote count at the forthcoming Russian presidential election on March 4 will be installed at 253 polling stations of Kalmykia. The installation and connection works are carried out by the "Rostelecom".

"Specialists of 'Rostelecom' will deliver and connect to the Internet special soft- and hardware systems, which include two web cameras, a computer, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and a set of cables," Oksana Sangadjieva, the press secretary of the Kalmyk Branch of the "Rostelecom", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

It is planned that the infrastructure created by the "Rostelecom" for the video monitoring system will cover 91,400 precinct election commissions (polling stations) throughout Russia; and its capacity will make it possible to connect 25 million users with a possibility of 60,000 simultaneous viewers through one web camera.
