In Novorossiysk, strong wind might cause deaths of two women
According to preliminary data, two women could fell victims to hurricane wind Novorossiysk, where gusts reached 35 meters per second. Energy workers continue eliminating bad weather consequences.
Let us remind you that last night hurricane wind gusts attacked the coastal area of the Krasnodar Territory. As a result of the wind and cold snap (down to minus 13-20 degrees), the territory saw broken high-voltage power lines and damaged distribution grids. Many residents suffered from power outage.
According to the spokesperson of the Administration of Novorossiysk, the women died this morning. In the first case, the wind blew the victim out to the roadway, where she got under the wheels of a vehicle. She died in place from her injuries. In the second case, wind gusts threw the woman against a parked car; and she also died.
Local law enforcement bodies have confirmed the deaths of both women confirmed, but said that circumstances of both incidents are examined, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Meanwhile, as of midday, 256,000 consumers of the territory remained without electricity. The cities of Anapa, Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik, as well as surrounding dwelling settlements, see partial power outages. Additional teams of the "Kubanenergo" - over 60 teams in total - are engaged in repairing power lines.
Currently, socially important objects of Anapa and Novorossiysk are powered by backup facilities and autonomous reserve power sources, the ITAR-TASS reports.
