Armenia refused switching between winter and daylight-saving time
On January, 26, the Government of Armenia took a decision to stop switching to daylight-saving time.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that this suggestion was moved forward by Minister of Economy of the country Tigran Davtyan. Cancellation of switching to winter time in Armenia must precede its passing to another time zone. Moving to the new time zone is expected in a year or two.
"After correction of our time zone we will be closer to Moscow and European time which keeps better with our geographic location", NEWS.am quotes the Minister of Economy.
Presently the territory of the country is entirely in the third time zone. For time counting the Government of Armenia suggests to use the fourth time zone as basis, Times.am writes.
After the session of the Government Minister Tigran Davtyan said that this decision would have a positive effect upon the people's health, PanArmenian reports.
At the same time, supporters of switching between summer and winter time are sure that there is an economic reasoning for doing so. Their main argument is saving energy and energy resources, IA "Novosti-Armenia" reports.
It should be reminded that Russia and Georgia have also cancelled switching between summer and winter time.
