About 180 Uzbek workers in Volgograd region cannot return home
About 180 workers from Uzbekistan in Volgograd region have to spend the winter in tents in an open field being unable to go home because they have not received their salary.
In 2011, 240 seasonal workers in accordance with the quotas were hired by "Agro-Holding "Nagavsky" and "Nagavskoye" limited companies for growing vegetables, however, only 62 workers who had already left the territory of the Russian Federation received their wages in full. 188 workers have got no salary so far.
Public prosecutor's office with the participation of experts from regional departments of Federal Migration Service, "Rospotrebnaszor", Chief Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and State Labour Inspection carried out an inspection on the situation. During the inspection it was discovered that the employers violated labour legislation, preventive fire-fighting regulations and sanitary and epidemiological legislation concerning the citizens of Uzbekistan, web-site of Public prosecutor's office of Volgograd region reports.
According to Nicolas Yermilov, Head of Nagava rural settlement of Kotelnikovsky district, the citizens of Uzbekistan have been living right in the field where they had worked at the vegetable plantations for already several months.
"The people are living in tents but there are cast-iron moveable wood stoves there and we help them with firewood. We recently started collecting humanitarian help, so they have no problems with warm things", IA "Vysota 102" quotes Yermilov.
The results of prosecutor's inspection were referred to Kotelnikovsky inter-district Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry in Volgograd region. Ordinances concerning General Director of "Nagavskoye" limited company Sergey Komarov and General Director of "Agro-Holding "Nagavsky" limited company Evgeny Petrov have been directed for solving the question of criminal prosecution according to clause 145.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (non-payment of wages), "Commersant" reports.
