In Moscow, Magmadovs' defence challenges the conviction

As reported by Musa Khadisov, the advocate of the Magmadovs, today he has submitted a cassation complaint to the Russia's Supreme Court against the verdict of guilty passed by the Moscow Regional Court in relation to Apti Magmadov and Aishat Magmadova. On January 18, Aishat was set free.

Let us remind you that on December 26, 2011, the Moscow Regional Court sentenced Apti to six and Aishat - to two years in a minimum security colony on charges of promoting terrorism and creation of illegal armed formations (IAFs).

Musa Khadisov has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he found the sentence to be illegal and unfair, as the investigation had failed to prove the charges. In the opinion of the advocate, the proofs of his clients' guilt, presented at the trial, failed to prove their involvement in the recruitment of Egle Kusaite and the fact that the Magmadovs had known that the citizen of Lithuania wanted to come to Russia to commit a suicide bombing.

The lawyer also said that late at night on January 18 Aishat Magmadova was released, since the term of her imprisonment had expired. In the course of the inquiry and trial, she spent two years behind bars.

Musa Khadisov has appealed against the verdict of the Moscow Regional Court by means of two cassation complaints. The defender is now asking the Supreme Court to cancel the conviction and acquit Apti Magmadov for lack of evidences of his guilt.
