In Dagestan, Zurab Batyrbekov's relatives complain of being pressed

Relatives of Zurab Batyrbekov, the disappeared resident of Makhachkala, who was eventually found at the IVS (temporary detention facility) of the city, reported on the continuing pressure on the family by law enforcement agencies.

According to Elena Denisenko, the representative of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" in Dagestan, earlier, brothers of the Zurab's mother Gasan and Gusein Kunbutaev had disappeared, and Naida Abdulvagabova, a sister, reported on their disappearance.

"The family members believe that, apparently, the pressure on the family is caused by the fact that Naida Abdulvagabova still writes to different authorities about the disappearance of her brothers, and the authorities have to respond somehow to that," Elena Denisenko emphasizes.

The relatives of Zurab Batyrbekov argue that the piece of paper, which law enforcers offered him to sign, contained the name of his uncle, Gasan.

According to Shamil Isaev, the lawyer of the detainee, on January 16, "Zurab Batyrbekov retracted his earlier signed testimony, which he was forced to sign."

The relatives and the lawyer insist on medical examination of the detainee.
