Woman from Dagestan states that her son-teenager was beaten by policemen

In Dagestan, five employees of the Magaramkent ROVD (District Interior Division) thrashed Sharvili Ramazanov, 14, a resident of the village of But-Kazmalyar, said his mother Tsukver Ramazanova.

Today, she told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that at night on January 4 their house was visited by employees of the Magaramkent ROVD and asked her to wake up her sleeping son.

"They told me that Sharvili was suspected of stealing things, gold and money from the house of a policeman; and he should follow them to the ROVD for evidencing," said the woman.

According to her story, at the ROVD the boy was severely beaten. "Employees of the Magaramkent ROVD beat him with truncheons and used an electric shocker to force him to confess of the theft," she said. "In the end, my son received numerous injuries, bruises and brain concussion. His kidneys are beaten off. Failing to reach their aim, on January 4, closer to the dinner time, they set Sharvili free, and I took him home from the ROVD."

"Having no proofs of his guilt, they decided to knock confessions out in this way. Now, they urge me not to raise noise and settle the case peacefully," she said. "What kind of peace is possible after that?"

According to her story, it was quite difficult for to persuade employees of the Magaramkent District Prosecutor's Office to accept her application to consideration.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Elena Denisenko, the representative of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" in Dagestan, that her organization received an application from Sharvili Ramazanov's mother. "We talked to the boy's mother and intend to help them in the situation and insist that the case is considered in the lawful manner," she said.
