In Rostov-on-Don, two tax inspectors conditionally sentenced on bribery charges

In Rostov-on-Don, Eduard Avanesyan, the former deputy chief of the Inspection of the Federal Tax Service in the Proletarsky District of the city of Rostov-on-Don, and Vyacheslav Avanesiyan, the former chief state tax inspector of the same inspection, accused of receiving large bribes, were conditionally sentenced.

Investigators revealed that in the period of December 2008-September 2009, Avanesyan and Avanesiyan received a bribe from the head of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Sarmat" in the amount of 300,000 roubles for extension of tax audit. The head of the LLC "Sarmat" was given details of the LLC "Khozintertorg" and instructed to transfer the required amount, and he made the transfer. And in October 2008-January 2009, through the same account, Avanesiyan received 170,000 roubles from the management of the LLC "DESS" for allegedly unlawful use of tax privilege.

Avanesyan and Avanesiyan were found guilty of receiving a large bribe through an intermediary. Eduard Avanesyan was conditionally sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with a fine of 500,000 roubles with a probation period of 4 years. Vyacheslav Avanesiyan was conditionally sentenced to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment with a fine of 600,000 roubles with the same probation period. Besides, the convicted persons were deprived of the right to hold positions in state institutions for 2 years and 6 months and 3 years, respectively, the "RBC" reports.
