In 2011, four persons were killed by mine and shell explosions in Azerbaijan

In 2011, in Azerbaijan, 12 persons blew up on unexploded landmines and shells, four of them were killed and eight wounded. This was reported by Khafiz Safikhanov, Chairman of the public association "Campaign to Ban Landmines".

According to Mr Safikhanov, two civilians, including a child, were among the perished persons. Three civilians are among the wounded persons.

In 2011, landmine and shell demolitions were recorded, in particular, in the Fizuli, Agdam, Terter, Geranboi, Tovuz, Beilyagan and Agdash Districts, the "1news.az" reports.

The "Campaign to Ban Landmines" is preparing a consolidated database of people affected by landmines and shells in Azerbaijan since 2003. The database will reflect social problems of those people, the news agency "News-Azerbaijan" reports.
