A group of journalists from Azerbaijan files a lawsuit against Armenia to the European Court
A group of journalists residing in Azerbaijan after being replaced as a result of occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia will file an appeal against Armenia to the European Court of Human Rights.
Journalists Khalid Asif oglu Kyazymli, Khalid Vahid oglu Kyazimov, Etibar Seidaga, Seimur Verdizade, Mahabbat Orujev, Ainur Elgiunesh, Sevil Khalilgazy and Samir Kyazymli consider that material and moral damage was inflicted on them and their rights, including the ones of property, residence and education were violated as a result of occupation of the districts of Karabakh located outside Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous republic.
In their lawsuit the journalists demand to confirm violation of their rights by Armenia as well as the fact that Armenia is an aggressor. Besides, they demand compensation from Armenia, IA "Novosti-Azerbaijan" reports.
The lawsuit is based upon clauses of the protocol to the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, in particular, clause 1 (peaceful use of one's own property), clause 8 (respect of personal and family privacy) clause 13 (the right of efficient remedy at law) and other clauses. The claimants also pointed out in their appeal that they had undergone discrimination (clause 14).
Director of the Institute of Media Law Rashid Gajili assumed the commitment of drawing up the journalists' complaint, IA "Trend" reports.
