A landslip happened in Sochi
A severe landslip happened at about 22:00, January, 5, near the Winter Theatre of Sochi. Buildings and landscaped areas were damaged.
The cause of the landslip is unknown yet. A committee consisting of a team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Head of the city, policemen and dog experts with dogs is working on the site.
The dog experts are establishing whether there are any injured people under the debris. There is no information of victims yet.
At the moment Primorskaya embankment along the way from “Zhemchuzhina” hotel to “Primorskaya” hotel is blocked by the police patrol and fenced in with special ribbons.
Nobody is let pass into the territory of the landslip except the personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the police and officials from the municipal Administration.
The Town planning Council of Sochi had repeatedly warned of dangerous state of the slope where the landslip happened, inadmissibility of construction and deforestation on it.
